I love graphic novel and comic book art. Any suggestions on books I should study to become a better comic book artist? I'm thinking both art books and perhaps specific graphic novels or comic books?
Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated. Thank you!
If I could draw (and I can't), I would find out if my favorite artists have a webpage and contact them for suggestions. Sometime they have message boards where people post their art to get pointers on how to improve.
Otherwise, I would go to Amazon.com and search for books specific to comics such as "Drawing Cutting Edge Anatomy: The Ultimate Reference for Comic Book Artists (Paperback)". Read the reviews and see what other artists recommend.

I need a topic about comic books for a research paper I am writing. However, I am NOT writing a history about the comics, I am writing a persuasive topic about the comic books. Though I am not sure what about comics I should be writing about in my research paper. Any suggestions?
A simple suggestion:
"Comic books as modern mythology"
The idea would be that ancient cultures had their own mythological stories about Zeus, Hercules, Mars, Quetzalcoatl, Krishna, etc. and about the supernatural as an explanation of the world around them. Comic books, in some ways, are an extension or a reflection of how modern readers/writers view the world around us.
Consider when certain heroes were created (during the Cold War, during a time when a certain segment of society was oppressed, what were our fears and hopes during those times in history) and how the characters challenged those ideas.
Consider Superman - a man of 'steel' who was indestructible? From an alien world?
Spiderman - a man whose genetic makeup was altered by an irradiated spider?
The Hulk - man affected by radiation?
Wonder Woman - a strong female character from an unknown outside world that challenges the notions of 'men' as 'dominant' and women as 'necessarily docile'?
