David Tynan O’Mahoney (Dave Allen) was popular in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada in the 1960s, 1970s and also in the 1990s; he became known in America through reruns of his shows on public television.

Allen’s act was typified by a very relaxed, intimate style — he would sit on a chair, smoking and holding a glass of whiskey. An atheist[1] (according to Allen himself, “what you might call a practising atheist”), he would often make jokes about religion, particularly the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of England. Along with his seated stand-up routines, his television shows were interspersed with sketch comedy. He had a lasting influence on British comedy, and influenced many 21st-century British comedians.

    just when you think …
just when you think you’ve examined this idiocy from every possible perspective… someone comes along and points out another puss, inanity and contradiction-filled boil on the arse of religion.

    I was “raised” by …
I was “raised” by evangelical christian parents, and my personal belief is that brainwashing children in this ridiculous tripe is child abuse. Stop terrorizing children into believing in god. They believe in santa, but they grow out of it. They should have the same freedom to grow out of every myth, and not be threatened with eternal ation if they don’t “love god”.

    The alternative …
The alternative wording for genuflection will come in most handy, yes indeed! :D Funny how the traditional Christian religions seem to be spending more and more time in funeral services…

    “Into the hole he …
“Into the hole he goes” … could this be why there are so many child molesting priests? Could it really be just a simple misunderstanding? Hmmm.

    I can totally …
I can totally relate to Allen with the same Catholic teachings like: “god is everywhere”, “do you love god?” “Jesus died for your sins” . . . and so on. I became really suspicious because I viewed church as a tool that drilled this bullshit in my head every Sunday; “just a quick reminder that god loves you” (what ever that meant)

    My sentiments …
My sentiments exactly! Why can’t we just rid ourselves of religion?? I was born a Mormon… the thought of all the years I wasted inside the Mormon bubble, believing sick weird stuff, tormenting myself with the thoughts of not being worthy of salvation, seeing “signs” and “messages” from the Mormon Jesus everywhere… Social insanity, that’s what it is. I’m so HAPPY to be FREE!! Nowadays I’m living outside all the big and small bubbles of religion, and the world is beautiful!
